The street in happier days when the harmony of old houses was not threatened by Mepa's bias towards development at all costs

Unique single continuous corbel that could only be found in Valletta, Mdina, the 3 Cities, the 3 villages, parts of Qormi and Sliema. Now no longer in Sliema.

Sliema's earliest house at its best a fine example of vernacular Baroque. Far from derelict as has been claimed.

Sliema residents' early-morning protest against demolition of their town's oldest house.

Demolition proceeds unchecked

Unique Balcony about to be demolished

Executed while awaiting appeal. Where are our rights to enjoyment of our heritage? Where are the politicians committed to saving our heritage? Are the fine speeches only lipservice?

All that remains of the Sliema Baroque House, Fri 17th March, 2006

What could have been - the beautifully-restored adjoining house up the road in High Street.

All men are equal, but some are more equal than others.

This house of much less value just a few doors up from the Baroque had to have its facade preserved although it had no historic and architectural value. Why not the older one? A case of two weights and two measures.
