għal Ambjent Aħjar (FAA) welcomes the appointment of
a new MEPA Chairman and augurs that the speedy implementation
of MEPA reform will enable the new Chairman to ensure a level
playing field for both developers and residents, consistency
in decisions and sustainable planning for Malta’s future
needs. FAA fails to understand how a decision as important as the Mistra high-rise development could have been taken just prior to the takeover of the new Chairman, and to the imminent MEPA reform. (click here to read more).

The Fort Cambridge project proposes to add around 370 apartments to the Tigne peninsula; if the Fort Cambridge, Townsquare and the extra MIDI blocks are approved, it will mean the addition of over 1,800 new apartments in about seven years within the square kilometre of Qui si-Sana/Tigne, set in an area that has over 4,500 vacant homes.
All the above scenarios are repeated in the Mistra mega-project application which is to be discussed in the afternoon. FAA maintains that it is not possible to justify a project to create 868 new apartments in an area having 9,000 empty properties. (click here to read more).

għal Ambjent Aħjar (FAA) is gratified that not only
has the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of
sustainable development and the need for MEPA reform in his
recent Parliamentary speech, but has also confirmed the
Government’s commitment to regularise political party
funding.
The

Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar (FAA) wholeheartedly supports the firm stand taken by Government as regards bus owners who insist on defying the authorities by refusing to allow their buses to be tested for fuel emissions. The arrogant attitude of the Public Transport Association is not to be tolerated and it is time that the pollution caused by these buses is eradicated. (click here to read more).

16th May 2008 Art Exhibition by C.S. Lawrence extended for another weekend
The
C.S. Lawrence ‘Synergy’ Art Exhibition taking place at the
Sinclair Stevenson art Gallery in Gozo has been a great
success. The Opening was very well attended with viewers
remarking the artist’s outstanding mastery of a wide range
of subjects and styles. Proceeds from C.S. Lawrence’s
exhibition are going to Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar,
the Friends of the Sick and Elderly and Oasi, and the good
news is that the exhibition is being extended for another
weekend so we do urge you to drop in if you are in Gozo as
it’s a really wonderful artistic treat.

Flimkien għal Ambjent Aħjar (FAA) regrets to note that another highly damaging development project has been requested that clearly violates Outside Development Zone (ODZ) regulations. The Mellieha Bay Hotel, owned by Albert Mizzi’s family company, has applied for the construction of 98 bungalows on the Mellieha ridge, which, if permitted would be another serious blow to the Maltese Natural Environment.(click here to read more).
You know when climate change is biting hard when instead of a vast expanse of snow the North Pole is a vast expanse of water. This year, for the first time, Arctic scientists are preparing for that possibility.(click here to read more).
